AN ASSESSMENT OF THE EFFECT OF BAD MANAGEMENT IN TODAY SOCEITY (A CASE STUDY OF IKEMU PLASTIC INDUSTRY UMUOJI ANAMBRA)

CHAPTER ONE

1.1     GENERAL BACKGROUND TO THE SUBJECT MATTER

It is worthy to commence this piece of work knowing what management or managerial profession stands for.  This is the profession of trained personnel who have acquired managerial skill of administration plus enough knowledge and experience in office work to be coup with simple office tools and machinery.

However, management has been viewed or given different interpretations by different people of bodies.  For instance, is can simply refers to as the process that manager follow to accomplish organisaitonal goal.  Again it can be used or referred to as body of knowledge.

Furthermore, according to Denyen J.C. in his book titled ..” principles of management “say that process of carrying out the duties required for the survival and attending of goals and objective or organization.  According to HAROLD KOOTRIZ and other see management as the creation or establishment of an environment for effective growth endeavours.  It also commonly used to designate a career devoted to the task of guideline and directing organisation.

In addition, management is defined as the process of reaching organisation goals by working with and through people and other organization resources.  From the above views or definitions one can say that the management of any given organisation is an indispensable tool for the achievement of its goals and objectives.

Beside, people called managers this is seen from Harold Kootriz’s definition of management stated above been known for their experiences maturity neat physical appearance.  Consciousness ability to work under pressure an ability to communicate effectively moreover, they are genue people this precisely make them to tolerate other religions beliefs short coming and ideas.  Inspite of the magnitude of service rendered by manager to their different employers.  They are skill subjected from one mail – treatment or another some of these are:

i)   They are not well remunerated

ii)  The female one’s (manageress) are some times harassed by their male employer.

Infact, proper management by the managers of a firm leads to the accomplishment of an organizational goal.

 1.2     PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SUBJECT MATTER

The success or failure of every business organization.  If the management is weak.  It adversely effects the organization and society at large.

Beside when we talk of the weakness of the management, we refers to the managers hoe they carryout their functions and how they give directives or managers the company.

 1.3     PROBLEMS THAT THE STUDY WILL BE CONCERNED WITH

The principle aim of this study is to examine closely the effects or the impacts of bad management in our society today.  Hence the study will take a look on the followings as it effects Ikemu Plastics Nigeria Limited Umuoji Anambra:-

a)    To inspect closely if the bankrupted of Ikemu Plastics in Umuoji Anambra is determined by poor management and whatever it has any effect to the society.

b)    To ascertain whether the scarcity of Ikemu products is a result of bad managements

c)     To assess the impact of poor payment of Ikemu plastics works is caused by poor administration of the company

d)     To see also whether the inferiority of Ikemu products have any effects to the society

e)     To evaluate if increase in price of goods and services of (Ikemu

Product) has effects in the society.

f)    To know exactly if mismanagement can lead to liquidation of Ikemu Plastic Limited Umuoji Anambra.

 1.4     THE IMPORTANCE OF STUDYING THE AREA

It is my hope this study will go a long way to be of immense benefit to establishments and the society in general.  This research will dig out the effect and bad management imposes in the society today, thus aid managers to make necessary amendments in managing any firm so as to maximize productivity of the benefit of the society.

The research also proves to be medium for managers to know the advice impact of poor administration to the society.

In the same vein the project will help the manager especially in the private sector to know their rights and duties to the establishment they are managing.  Moreover, it will serve as indicator of managers whether to discharge their duties and carryout their functions very well or not.

Lastly the study takes a look on impacts of mismanagements.

Its effects and gives recommendation towards goal accomplishment.

It is on this that we look into the Ikemu plastics to examine the followings:-

  1. To find how management is practiced in Ikemu’s company
  2. To see the effect of such practiced on the Ikemu
  3. To see the effect of such practice on the external environment of Ikemu
  4. To recommend appropriate solutions if need be

 1.5     DEFINITION OF IMPORTANT TERMS COMMUTER

This piece of work deals extensively on the effect of bad management imposed in the today’s society and certain constraint’s which faced the researchers.  He decided to limit the research to the managers of known firms in Anambra metropolis especially the Ikemu plastics limited Anambra.

This study is faced with a number of factors it would have had a bulk of materials and potes but times was no more on our side.  Therefore we had no choice than to limit our study at Ikemu plastics limited Umuoji Anambra Metropolis.

Also we then research faced with financial difficulties which weighted us down in completion of this study.

Lastly, the attitude of our respondents was immensely bad infact.  It is nothing to write home about.
