THE EFFECT OF PTEROCARPUS MILDBREADII SEED ON PLASMA HDL CHOLESTEROL OF ALBINO RAT
ABSTRACT
This work was carried out to study the effects of Pterocarpus mildbreadii seed at albino rats.High density lipoprotein HDL (HDL) cholesterol is a fraction, which helps carry the peripheral cell cholesterol in lipoprotein liver.High density is performed to investigate the cardio vascular seed diseases.Fresh oha (pterocarpus mildbreadii seeds) was collected in Amokwe in Udi local government Area, Enugu State. They were dried at room temperature for about a month in an open laboratory space, ground into coarse form and weighed on an electronic scale. 3% tween-80 was prepared by dissolving 3% tween-80 in 97ml of distilled water. The mildbreadii of pterocarpus earth was dissolved in the 3% tween-80. A total of sixteen Wistar Abino used for this analysis. The rats were divided into four (4) groups. 1contain Group 4 rats received 0.5 each 3% between-80. Group 2 contains 5 rats and were administered with 1400mg / kg b.w of Pterocarpus mildbraedii solution. Group 3 contain three rats and were administered with 2600mg / kg. b.w of pteridocarpus mildbreadii solution. Group 4 contains 4 rats and were administered with 500mg / kg. body weight of Edmard MRT.
